French French is taught across all six half terms. Each unit of work within French focusses on different topic areas, and allows children to practise their skills in listening to French, speaking French and writing French over time. Children use floorbooks to record their written French throughout the year. The Twinkl French scheme of work is used as a starting point. See our curriculum for each year group attached below. Teachers use a variety of resources to enable them to plan lessons effectively, including online resources, books and real French speakers.
Knowledge organisers are also used to support children in remembering important knowledge and skills necessary for each topic. These can be found in relevant year groups below too.
Children in EYFS and year 1 & 2 are also exposed to French language through counting, singing and colours. They also see the date written in French in classrooms. |
