EYFS

There are seven areas of learning in the Early Years: Literacy, Maths, Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal Social and Emotional Development, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. Activities in the EYFS setting are planned to ensure that all areas are catered for and allow children to flourish across the seven areas. Staff also utilise Development Matters to support them in planning appropriate activities for the stage that children are working at. As children then move through the school, the skills they learn in foundation stage are then built on further through the curriculum.

In maths, staff follow the White Rose Maths scheme, and further information about how this is used from Nursery, through to year 6, can be found here. Activities in free-flow also promote these maths skills through independent opportunities and play based learning.

In English, activities are planned using the whole school documents found here. Activities planned allow for emergent writing to develop, alongside phonics learning. Children also practise and apply these skills in independent activities in free-flow times.

Children access RE learning and also access worship on a daily basis, in class and, at times, as a whole school. For further information around collective worship, please click here. Please see the documents and RE Page below for information about RE learning, based on the SACRE Agreed Syllabus.
