Art

Art is taught across three terms, alternating throughout the year with design technology. Each unit of work within art focusses on different elements, to ensure our children have a wide range of skills and knowledge taught to them, and they have enough time each week to build upon these, develop and apply them. Children use sketchbooks to record their experimentations in a range of art styles - this experimentation and exploration is crucial. The curriculum is led using artists - this gives children many opportunities to appraise the work of other artists and learn about a variety of styles.

See our curriculum for each year group attached below. Teachers use a variety of resources to enable them to plan lessons effectively, including online resources, books, real artwork and visitors.

Knowledge organisers are also used to support children in remembering important knowledge and skills necessary for each topic. These can be found in relevant year groups below too.
