Design & Technology

DT is taught across three terms, alternating throughout the year with art. Each unit of work within DT focusses on different elements, to ensure our children have a wide range of skills and knowledge taught to them, and they have enough time each week to build upon these, develop and apply them. Children also explore food and creating food during DT sessions. Children use books to record their experimentations, prototypes, diagrams etc in a range of projects - this experimentation and exploration is crucial. The DT Association Projects on a Page are used to support teachers in their planning.

See our curriculum for each year group attached below. Teachers use a variety of resources to enable them to plan lessons effectively, including online resources, books, finished products and visitors.

Knowledge organisers are also used to support children in remembering important knowledge and skills necessary for each topic. These can be found in relevant year groups below too.
